Development of the Plan

The judiciarys IT program has matured considerably since its inception more than 30 years ago, and the Long Range Plan for Information Technology in the Federal Judiciary has likewise evolved.

The plan presents the program in terms of five fundamental areas: external participants, court operations, judges and chambers, probation and pretrial services, and information technology infrastructure, in order to identify needs of the judiciarys various constituents.

Through its Subcommittee on Planning and Budgeting, the Judicial Conference Committee on Information Technology provided overall guidance in the development of this update.
