from Third Branch Leaders
The inadequacy
of judicial pay took center stage as the National Commission on
the Public Service launched public hearings on the need for comprehensive
reform in federal government service. Inadequate compensation
seriously compromises judicial independence and threatens the
ability to attract and retain the best judges for service, the
three judicial witnesses - Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist,
Justice Stephen G. Breyer,
and Judge Deanell R. Tacha - told
the Commission. |
