Employees of the Administrative Office work primarily in the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building at One Columbus Circle, NE, in Washington, D.C. The building was opened in 1992 and is named in honor of the first African-American Supreme Court Justice. Centrally located next to historic Union Station, the building is accessible by public transportation, including Washington's Metrorail system and the Virginia and Maryland commuter rail systems. Restaurants, shops, and museums are all within walking distance.

Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building

The Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building is an impressive structure with its glass-walled atrium that is open to the public. Congress, through the Architect of the Capitol, directed the architect/developer team for the building to design and construct a monumental building that would last for 200 years. The architectural design complements both Union Station and the Old City Post Office Building and completes the plan for the Columbus Circle complex established when Union Station first opened in 1907.

The Administrative Office works to ensure an exceptional environment for all employees in the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building. The following amenities are available to employees:

  • Fitness Center
  • Health Unit
  • Thurgood Marshall Child Development Center (on-site day care facility)
  • Treasury Department Federal Credit Union
  • ATM
  • Cafeteria
  • AO Library
  • On-site building management and security staffs

The Administrative Office also has employees located in Phoenix, AZ, Charleston, SC, and San Antonio, TX.
