Abstract:
Thias article examines the operations and impact of specialized probation services for people suffering from severe, debilitating, and chronic psychiatric disorders.They discuss differences between these and standard probationers, enumerate key components of specialized probation programs for them, present results of studies of the effectiveness of the specialized programs, and suggest directions for future research.
