ADVISORY OPINION NO. 2
Service Without Compensation on Governing Boards of Charitable Organizations.
A judge has inquired as to the propriety of serving upon the Board
of Directors of the Salvation Army and of the Red Cross Chapter in the
city of the judge's residence. The judge is not compensated for such service.
We see no impropriety in membership on such boards provided the judge does
not engage in solicitation for such organization or permit the influence
of his or her name or office to be used in such solicitation and provided
the service will not interfere with the prompt and proper performance of
the judge's judicial duties.
