The District Court Administration Division and the Procurement Management Division are seeking comments on an Exposure Draft for the revised Contract Court Interpreter Services Terms & Conditions and the revised Rate & Information Sheet. The purpose of these documents is to outline the procurement procedures to be used when contracting between a court and a contract court interpreter for services for defendants in court proceedings instituted by the United States. These documents were last updated in 2005.

The primary revisions to the Terms & Conditions include:

  • Consistent use of the term "purchase order/requisition;"
  • Listing of the events for which an interpreter may be paid, including: a daily or half-day rate for interpreter service; authorized travel expense; and cancellation fee;
  • Additions to the billing invoice required from the contract court interpreter (includes vouchers for authorized travel expenses, interpreter's signature certifying that the interpreter has rendered the services for which payment is requested, and copies of the requisition and written assignment form).

The primary revisions to the Rate & Information Sheet include:

A 60-day comment period is provided to allow time for courts to seek comments from contract court interpreters who are frequently used. The deadline for comments to this exposure draft has passed.
