U.S. District Judge John D. Bates

Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. has appointed U.S. District Judge John D. Bates as Director of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. Judge Bates, who has served on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia since 2001, will assume the duties of Director July 1, 2013. He succeeds Judge Thomas F. Hogan, who will return to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia as a senior judge.
