In New Video, Students Sound Off on Bill of Rights
Celebrating Bill of Rights Day, students in a newly released two-minute video talk candidly about the rights and freedoms they value most and are guaranteed in this seminal document.
The interviewees, students from Miami University of Ohio, bring a contemporary perspective—and in some cases, personal experiences—to the freedoms of religion and speech, the rights to bear arms and petition the government, and freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures, among other rights. The first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution were ratified on December 15, 1791.
The video, titled "Students Sound Off," was produced for the U.S. Courts' Educational Resources program. The unscripted remarks can be used to help teachers and students start discussions on how the Bill of Rights affects students' lives today.
