Teachers Institute Hosted by Central District of California

The Los Angeles-based U.S. District Court for the Central District of California hosted its ninth annual Teachers Institute in late October for 28 high school teachers from 16 local schools.

A program entitled Stop and Frisk Under the Fourth Amendment was presented. It is based on the U.S. Supreme Court case of Illinois v. Wardlow.

U.S. District Judge Consuelo Marshall served as moderator for a panel discussion that included a federal public defender, two assistant U.S. attorneys and a private defense lawyer.

Teacher discussion groups, facilitated by attorney moderators, followed the panels presentation.
The program was based on materials prepared by the Office of Public Affairs of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts.
