Judiciary's Exchange Program Seeks Greater Understanding

The first initiative of a new Court-Administrative Office Exchange Program, called the Directors Leadership Program, is being launched.

It is designed to foster a greater sense of awareness and understanding of the AO, the central support entity for the federal Judicial Branch, and the courts through the temporary exchange of staff.

AO Director James Duff said in a letter to federal court executives nationwide that the Directors Leadership Program will bring senior and mid-level court staff, including federal defender organization staff, to the AO for assignments of up to one year to do substantive work on national initiatives and high-priority projects.

There are six such opportunities available in 2009.

The Exchange Program will also include a Temporary Duty Assignment Program that will involve more short-term assignments for both court and AO staff, and a revitalized and expanded Orientation program.
