Needs of Federal Courts on Southwest Border Newly Assessed

Concerns about the safety of federal courthouses and those who visit or work in them recently led James C. Duff, director of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts (AO), to travel to Arizona and Texas on a fact-finding mission.

While in Tucson, Arizona, Duff addressed 25 new court security officers, appointed as part of the Perimeter Security Pilot Project, an initiative jointly spearheaded by the U.S. Marshals Service and the AO. Five southwestern cities were selected to receive enhanced allocations of court security officers.

Duff was accompanied by U.S. Marshals Service Director John Clark, who swore in the new CSOs in Tucson.
