Open Doors To Federal Courts 2003

Judge Charles Weiner

The nationally designated day for the Open Doors to Federal Courts 2003 program saw thousands of high school seniors visit federal courthouses on November 12.

The program this year used mock trials and other showcases to tell students about the varied careers available in the Judicial Branch.

Many federal courts are scheduling the program for later dates, and plan to recast it for the 50th anniversary in May 2004 of the Supreme Court's decision in Brown v. Board of Education. The program will spotlight the example of Thurgood Marshall as someone who dedicated his life to working for justice.
