Judge David B. Sentelle of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has been named chairman of the new Judicial Conference Committee on Judicial Security.
Due to growing concerns about courthouse security and the safety of federal judges away from courthouses, the policy-making Judicial Conference of the United States decided to split its Committee on Security and Facilities.
Judge Sentelle, a member of the circuit court in the nation's capital since 1987, previously served as a member of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. He is the presiding judge of the panel for appointing independent counsels.
