Vol. 39, Number 2 February 2007
New Chairs and Committees for 110th Congress
With the shift to a Democrat-led 110 Congress, the chairs and ranking minority members on committees and subcommittees also have changed.
Some reorganization also occurred. The House and Senate Appropriations Committees each have created a new Financial Services and General Government subcommittee that has jurisdiction over, among other things, funding for the federal Judiciary and the General Services Administration, which builds the Judiciary’s courthouses. The structure of the committees authorizing courthouse projects, a necessary step before appropriations may be obligated by the GSA, remain unchanged in the House and Senate.
