Head of Legislative Affairs Named

Cordia Strom has been named Assistant Director for Legislative Affairs at the Administrative Office, succeeding Mike Blommer who retired in April 2005. Dan Cunningham continues as Deputy Assistant Director in Legislative Affairs.

Strom joins the AO from the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Legislative Affairs, where she has been Director of Appropriations since 2003. Her background includes three years, from 1992 to 1995, as minority counsel with the Senate Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Immigration and Refugee Affairs; as chief counsel to the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and Claims from 1995 to 1998; and as staff, from 1998 to 2000, on the House Appropriations Committee, Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, State, and the Judiciary. In 2000, Strom moved to the Department of Justice where she was counsel to the Director and coordinator for Congressional Affairs, Executive Office for Immigration Review.
