Head of Office of Legislative Affairs Retires

      Mike Blommer

Michael W. Blommer

The long-time head of the Administrative Office’s Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA), Michael W. Blommer, retired last month. While a search is conducted for his successor, Daniel Cunningham, OLA’s Deputy Assistant Director, will head the office.

Blommer joined the AO in 1995 from the American Intellectual Property Law Association, where he served for 16 years as the Association’s Executive Director. At the AO, he led OLA as it worked with Congress on issues affecting the federal courts, such as judges’ pay, new judgeships, and courts improvement legislation, and he provided guidance and leadership to the Judiciary on legislative matters.

“Mike has served the Judiciary well in his role,” said AO Director Leonidas Ralph Mecham, “and his efforts will be missed. Our best wishes are extended to him.”
