Abstract:
Laws on GPS monitoring for sex offenders, lifetime probation or parole sanctions for convicted sex offenders, and expanded use of polygraphs for sex offenders living in the community have redefined the role of probation and parole officers supervising sex offenders. This article provides an overview of the assumptions underlying a new training curriculum developed by the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) on this topic.
