Abstract:

Currently, both federal and state probation and parole systems use "standard conditions of supervision." To be effective, however, community supervision must be flexible enough to respond to both the offender's needs and those of the community. The authors examine recent trends in the case law addressing the extent to which probation, parole, and other community supervision personnel may impose additional or modified conditions of supervision.
