Abstract:

The author studied a program of police officer and county probation officer home visits of offenders during intensive probation supervision of both juveniles and adults. She used ride-alongs, participant interviews, and official agency data to research whether hone visits allow probation officers to detect probation violations sooner and whether they change the behavior of probationers. She concluded that there were more perceived benefits for high-risk youth than for adults.
