The Campaign for Federal Probation

In this article originally published in the June 1950 issue of Federal Probation, a special issue dedicated to the 25th anniversary of passage of the federal Probation Act, the author charts the complicated history of the passage of that act. This article is reprinted in anticipation of the act's 2025 centennial creating the federal probation system.
