A federal judge from the Northern District of Ohio held a recent naturalization ceremony at a Cleveland history museum, and in the process created a memorable event for two groups.
For 119 immigrants, the day brought American citizenship. For 23 ninth-grade students from a Cleveland suburb, it was a living civics lesson. As one teacher said, “You can talk about the naturalization process, and you can discuss what it means to be an American citizen, but I think when they get to see it with their own eyes, it really gives them an insight and understanding that’s just not possible through books or videos.”
Listen to an audio clip to learn more about the event, and watch a video of the ceremony, which staff at the Northern District of Ohio helped to produce.
