Overview of the Position The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time permanent position of Criminal Duty Magistrate Judge Courtroom Deputy Supervisor. The Criminal Duty Magistrate Judge Courtroom Deputy Supervisor will be fully trained in the work of the unit and will perform the work of the unit in addition to supervisory work and the management of the Criminal Duty caseload. This is a full-time working supervisor position wherein the supervisor will perform the work of a criminal duty magistrate judge courtroom deputy in court and outside of court as needed. The Supervisor provides supervision and participation in courtroom and other assistance through management of case filings, court calendars, court proceedings, electronic court recording operator (ECRO) duties, recording pertinent results for minutes and drafting relevant minutes and/or orders. Issues criminal complaint numbers and search warrant numbers through CM/ECF. This position is not eligible for combination with other courtroom deputy/case management roles (interested candidates with current case management duties will not be able to retain their case management duties if they accept this position). The Criminal Duty Magistrate Judge Courtroom Deputy Supervisor reports directly to the Chief Deputy Clerk.
