Overview of the Position | The U.S. Probation Office for the Western District of Oklahoma is a component of the U.S. Courts and is responsible for the community corrections arm of the Federal Courts System. It is a combined probation and pretrial services office and is headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with a divisional office in Lawton, Oklahoma. The district serves 41 counties with six authorized U.S. District Judges, three Senior U.S. District Judges, and four full-time U.S. Magistrate Judges. The office has authorized work units of 78. The United States Probation Office for the Western District of Oklahoma is currently accepting applications for a U.S. Probation Officer for its Oklahoma City location. By statute, probation officers serve in a judiciary law enforcement position and assist in the administration of justice and promote community safety, gather information, supervise offenders/defendants, interact with collateral agencies, prepare reports, conduct investigations, and present recommendations to the court. |
