Overview of the Position U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Thurston is seeking applicants for a two-year Court Term Law Clerk position in her Fresno chambers. Applicants must be available for a start date of employment on or shortly after Oct. 1, 2025. The term of employment will end on Sept. 30, 2027. The incumbent will conduct extensive research and writing on a wide range of issues that arise in federal litigation. Some of the responsibilities will include work on civil motions, criminal motions seeking compassionate release and assist with trials. Work will be expected to be performed in our Fresno courthouse on a regular and recurring basis with limited availability of telework subject to Judge Thurston’s approval. Judge Thurston will consider a candidate’s preference for full-time telework for extraordinarily well qualified candidates. This preference must be stated in a candidate’s cover letter. An individual’s service in “term” designated positions in the Federal Judiciary is limited to a maximum of four years to any combination of federal judges.
