Overview of the Position The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey is accepting resumes and applications for the position of Judicial Law Clerk (Term). Duties include researching a variety of legal issues, drafting memorandum and opinions, reviewing orders, handling miscellaneous day-to-day clerical assignments, and other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Candidate must have the following attributes:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of law (or be certified as having completed all law school studies and requirements and merely awaiting conferment of degree)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, maturity, judgment, and discretion
  • Superior legal research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Must be proficient in Westlaw, Lexis, and Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications
It is preferred that applicants took bankruptcy in law school or have experience in the bankruptcy field or comparable practice areas. Familiarity with electronic case filing and management systems is preferred. Applicants must be able to quickly process and resolve complex issues.
