Overview of the Position U.S. Magistrate Judge Erica P. Grosjean in our Fresno courthouse and Magistrate Judge Christopher D. Baker in our Bakersfield courthouse are seeking well qualified applicants for a full-time Pro Se Law Clerk position. The incumbent will assist both judges by conducting extensive legal research and writing on prisoner civil rights 1983 litigation, habeas corpus petitions, and Social Security disability appeals. The incumbent will also assist both judges with managing their caseload and preparing for case-related hearings, conferences, and trials. Applicants must be available for an immediate start date of employment. The selected applicant will be expected to perform work in our Fresno courthouse; however, consideration will be given to a full-time telework assignment only for applicants with substantial experience handling prisoner civil rights 1983 litigation, habeas corpus petitions, and/or Social Security disability appeals. Applicants are asked to state their duty station preference (i.e., Fresno, or full-time telework) in their cover letter.
