Position Description
Applicants must be a member in good standing of a state bar. Applicants must have a commitment to the representation of indigent persons in addition to excellent writing, legal research and advocacy skills. Applicants must also possess the ability to communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, staff, colleagues, and other individuals that they will come into contact with as part of their employment. A reputation for integrity and commitment to the representation of those unable to afford counsel are qualities which are sought for this position. In addition, experience in federal court and working knowledge of the federal sentencing guidelines and of federal criminal law are also preferred. One or more positions may be filled from this announcement. This is a position for a trial lawyer, and federal criminal defense experience is preferred.
