Overview of the Position The U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota is seeking a Judicial Assistant for District Judge John R. Tunheim, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Judicial Assistant performs general and specialized court and courtroom functions, to include calendaring and/or similar courtroom services work. The duties involve managing the judge’s caseload, attending and logging court proceedings, and processing orders. This job requires a high level of knowledge and complexity regarding court and courtroom operations. In addition, the person in this position must be able to function at a fully proficient level of courtroom work, including completing calendar and other reporting responsibilities. The position requires confidentiality and discretion, and will include scheduling workflow, appointments and meetings, research and preparation of data and information, emailing, preparing reports, drafting correspondence, coordinating the hiring of law clerks and externs, arranging and maintaining the judge’s travel itineraries, copying, filing, and management of the day-to-day operations of the office. The ideal candidate will display initiative, good judgment, professionalism, follow-through, the ability to multi-task and readily adapt to fast-changing priorities, excellent organizational skills and a strong work ethic. The typical work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. with occasional remote work (additional hours may be required).
