Overview of the Position The U.S. District Court, Central District of California, invites applications for the position of Administrative Law Clerk to the Chief Judge. The position could begin immediately and the end date is to be determined. Principal duties of the position, which will be located in Los Angeles, include, but are not limited to, supporting the Chief Judge in the administrative aspects of court management; non-case-related research and writing, including drafting speeches, press releases, correspondence, orders, and legal memoranda on issues of court governance, operations, rules, and procedures; providing staff support to court operating committees; serving as the recording secretary for court and committee meetings; and assisting with supervision of judicial law clerks. The position may also require interacting with judges, chambers staff, court personnel, members of the bar, and/or the public; researching substantive issues of federal and state law; drafting case-related legal memoranda, opinions, and orders; and a variety of other chambers administrative tasks.
